If you enable the option to share path, your friends will know where you are and you know where they are.
You can also view the location on this web map. You can test it with demo users, indicating the route 1111122222 and password 9999.
And if your phone allows it, you can activate the monitoring SOS when you make a walking. If acceleration exceeds a predetermined threshold, send a distress message. Useful for unexpected falls.
